It’s a history weekend! Arcadia Publishing’s book about Potrero Hill is finally out, and Farley’s is hosting a book signing with authors Peter Linenthal and Abigail Johnston this Sunday at 6pm. The two of them will be sharing anecdotes about the making of the book and answering questions.

All your favorite Potrero Hill people are in the book (well, some of them at least). In the book you’ll see photos of Goat Hill’s Philip DeAndrade sporting some huge sideburns and long curly locks, the Daily Scoop (now Chez Papa), a scene of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake / fire as seen from the hill, and much more.

I’d also highly recommend taking the free history tour of Dogpatch and Potrero Point on Sunday at 11 am. It’s a great walking tour featuring the history of Dogpatch back in the days when that neighborhood was filled with workers for the shipyards. Some of the information for the tour comes from Ralph Wilson’s wonderful site about Pier 70, which is packed with photos and history.
