Potrero Hill History Night

Arctic Oil Works (pictured above) opened their plant at Illinois and Center (16th) in 1884, and had office space on California St. Their huge tanks for storing whale oil and connection to the railroad were state-of-the-art in 1884.

The 6th Annual Potrero Hill History Night is happening this Saturday, and kicks off at 6pm with a viewing of displays.

Goat Hill Pizza's Phil DeAndrade will be interviewing sisters Kathleen & Lucia of St. Theresas and John Greenberg of the Potrero Hill Rec Center - all active on the hill since the 1960s.

Members of Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu will be performing a hula.

The Arcadia book on Potrero Hill by Peter Linenthal (Potrero Hill Archives Project) and Abby Johnston (the Potrero View) will be available for purchase, and there will also be a raffle benefiting the Potrero Hill Archives Project.

You can also purchase raffle tickets benefiting after school and youth programs at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House.
