Mission Bay Weekend

mission branch library
The city's first new branch library in 40 years is scheduled to open next year in Mission Bay (our own neighborhood library is scheduled to close for construction in summer 2006, after the new Mission Bay branch opens, and will re-open in 2008).

The 7,500 square foot library will include a teen and children's area and a collection highlighting maritime history and marine ecology. It's currently under construction on the ground floor of Mission Creek Senior Apartments, located at Fourth & Berry streets facing Mission Creek.

Bruce Prescott, whose firm designed the new library, said the space was designed to reflect the way libraries are used today: watching movies, attending story time, taking classes, as well as reading.

Several events are taking place this weekend took place last weekend to highlight the emersion of a new and vibrant neighborhood in Mission Bay. as well as calling attention to the Mission Bay Branch Library.
