Update on Surveillance Camera

In a recent community update e-mail, Captain Albert Pardini asked for the public's input on ideas for community policing and problem solving, so I sent him an e-mail.
Here's my e-mail:
Captain Albert Pardini -
Hello. I would like to identify a crime hot spot in Potrero Hill which is the dead end of Connecticut, located south of 20th Street, and bordering public housing. Not only is the dead end a hot spot, but also the stairs at 22nd & Wisconsin leading down to Arkansas street and also the footpath that leads from 22nd Arkansas to the dead end of Connecticut.
Below you'll find a map with markers and the police reports of concentrated crime around this location.
I've brought this crime spot to the attention of the potrero boosters neighborhood association, and the majority of residents in the neighborhood are in support of placing a video surveillance camera at the dead end of Connecticut.
It is my understanding that Mayor Newsom intends to place several more surveillance cameras on a trial basis throughout the city, and I hope that you might be able to advocate on behalf of the residents of Potrero Hill that a camera be placed at the dead end of Connecticut.
thanks -
mike lin
Here's his reply:
Mr. Mike Lin,
Thank you for bringing these incidents to my attention, I sent this information to my Lieutenant's and they will bring the email to the attention of the officers.
Additionally, I have asked them to focus more attention on the stairs, footpath and the dead end of Connecticut street. The placement of camera's is handled by the Emergency Communications Department (ECD) in cooperation with the Mayor's Office. I will forward your request and ask that the location be considered for future placement of the camera's.
Sincerely,
Captain Albert Pardini
Commanding Officer Bayview Station
I'd like to publicly thank Captain Pardini for his reply and help in making our neighborhood safer.

Sophie's not going to be happy with you. She's against camera's....and probably DNA testing...
Not sure about Sophie's stance on DNA testing, but she's certainly against Megan's Law.
Oh, and by the way, Sophie is up for re-election in 2007.
Sophie has said she supports putting more cops on the beat. So she is willing to see some action taken. Also, she's pushing for liquor stores to be better neighbors and (I gather) cease serving as a gathering place for crime. We should push her to fund cameras in and/or outside the liquor stores. :-)
