Mission Bay Golf Center Closing
Matier & Ross of the SF Chronicle report that the Mission Bay Golf Center will be closing tonight.
The driving range which opened 15 years ago has been ordered by it's landlord, Mission Bay Developer ProLogis, to vacate. The property will be cleared and converted into office spaces and condos.
Operator Jack Scott said he's been given until April 15 to restore the site to it's original condition - which means the removal of the double-deck tee structure to the poles, nets, pathways, irrigation system, grass and 800 truckloads of dirt.

Too bad - many good times there for lots of people. Jack Scott is a good guy - had clinics every Saturday for kids who'd never have seen a golf ball except for him. If he wants to open somewhere else he deserves a break. A very responsible operator and neighbor.
I visited there hundreds of times and never hit a single ball. No, I'm not that bad at golf ... I just went for the food! Had my last brunch there last weekend. Sad to see it's closing down though you'll still be able to get lunch at the Backburner (formerly Stix) through the end of this month. -tom from penn st.
another step in making Mission Bay completely pedestrian unfriendly. That whole development along Kings Street is a joke. I can't even imagine anyone ever wanting to patronizing the shops there unless you work there.
