Potrero Hill, San Francisco

A neighborhood guide for Potrero Hill, San Francisco

On Wednesday, May 3 the Trust for Public Land held the third and final workshop for community members to help shape the design of the lower playground of Potrero Hill Park (near the tennis courts at 22nd & Arkansas).

TPL’s consultant, Design Community & Environment, presented the final concept plan for playground, lawn and picnic area improvements based on the community’s vision.

The plan highlights are:
• Fenced play area with equipment and swings for 2-4 year olds, 5-12 year olds
• Central gathering space for socializing and to serve as a place for events or an outdoor movie screen
• Lawn area
• New picnic areas (including picnic tables inside the play area)
• Paved circulation paths
• ADA accessible parking stall at the park entry
• Select tree removals to improve safety and open up visibility in the park

The concept plan will go before the Recreation and Park Commission this June. Over the next several months, TPL will continue to raise funds to construct the park.

Construction documents are planned for completion in November. Following City approval, TPL will construct the park in late winter/spring, depending on the weather.

It’s beautiful and a friendly design that will be a refreshing change from the sad state that is currently there. Congratulations!! They finally did it.
