The deconstruction of 601 King St.
23 May 2006Peter Linenthal tips us that the construction of the David Baker + partners project at 601 King St. is being documented and viewable as flash movies.
Donald Booth, who works for Adobe at the 1905 Baker & Hamilton brick warehouse next to the site, is taking one photo per minute from 7am - 4pm, Mon - Fri. This project, sponsored by Adobe, takes the 2,400 images shot per week and turns them into flashmovies using Adobe’s Flashplayer Plug-In.
Construction on the site is scheduled to continue until July 2007. The movies are beautiful, catching demolition and construction, moving shadows, sunsets through the rain, and of course Potrero Hill in the background.

very very cool.
I had hoped someone at Adobe/Macromedia with a view of this would time-lapse it.
Kudos Donald - well done!.
The transformation of San Francisco from 7th to the Bay and King St south to 17th is extraordinary. The pace and level of change I think will stun native San Franciscans taking their first ride on the muni down 3rd in a few months.
Be sure to check out the Flickr photos of Art’s Trading Co, before and during demolition.
