900 Minnesota Update
18 Jul 2006
Back in December we wrote about the new housing development at 900 Minnesota, which would transform the former Esprit headquarters (and former wine warehouse) into 142 house loft condominium homes.
A tipster e-mailed us this update from Maguire Real Estate who will be representing the sale of the units:
There is still very little info on 900 Minnesota as it is now scheduled for delivery around Spring of 2007 (about 3 months behind right now). There are 140 units planned for the entire project spread over several buildings (both new and renovated ones). Pricing has yet to be determined. Layouts will range from 1-bedroom units at app. 800 sqft. to 2-bedroom units plus Den/Office at app. 1,700+ sqft (and possibly larger plans as well). No floor plans are yet available, and the website has also not been constructed (possibly late Summer/early Fall 2006). And that’s all we know so far! Please contact us again after the Summer to see what progress has been made.
We’ll be sure to touch base with Maguire in the fall to get another update.

I was walking on the 20th street overpass and saw a bulldozer taking down some nice old trees. Sad! They were right on the street, too. I hope they’re not going to take many down.
I used to covert the glass walled brick area on the upper right of the building when viewed form the overpass. You can just see the leftmost wall of it in this photo.
I have to say walking, biking (or even driving) over the 20th st bridge is one of my favorite passages in Potrero.
The greenhouse is available should someone be interested in removing it. We tried to save it by transforming it into a design studio off site, but city regulations made it impossible. Very sad.
and… about the trees.. There are very few live trees coming down, primarily in the parking lot. The street trees are precious and being protected on both Illinois and Minnesota. Many new ones will go in next year..
