Street Robbery

Bayview Housing Authority Officer Fowlie met with a robbery victim at the above intersection. The woman explained that she was running towards a MUNI bus when she noticed three black juveniles following her. As she began to climb the steps of the bus, one of the juveniles ripped her purse from her shoulder. The force caused the woman to fall onto the bus steps causing minor injuries. The MUNI bus driver gave a similar account of the event. The suspect who grabbed the purse is described as a black male, 15-20 years of age, 5’08” 150 lbs., wearing a turquoise jacket and dark jeans. Bayview Officers later found the purse in front of a Dakota St. address. Apparently nothing had been taken from the purse. People who ride MUNI should be aware that it is not an uncommon practice for robbers on the street to pull belongings from unsuspecting victims as they climb aboard buses or trains.
